Polo Shirt

Polo Shirts are designed in many different styles with a wide range of different colours and patterns. With a wide range of styles you will always find the style you are looking for. There are long sleeves, short sleeves, contrast, stripe and some styles with pockets. They can be worn in any type of environment such as work, leisure, sports and school wear. They are made using a wide range of materials for example Cotton, Polyester, Lycra. Polo Shirts typically have two or three buttons down a slit below the collar, a zip may replace the buttons. They can be used for a wide range of personalisation including embroidery, heat pressing and printing. Polo Shirts are made for everyone including Men, Women and Children. There are now organic styles available on the market which are made of 100% Organic material.

Styles

Short Sleeve: The most common style of polo shirt, typically the sleeve goes half way down the length of the arm. Long Sleeve: The sleeve covers the full length of the arm.

Pocket Style: The shirt has at least one pocket usually on the left breast but can have more.

Contrast Styles: There are a wide range of contrast styles such as stripe, tipped collar and many more.

Ladies Styles: These are made to fit a lady, they have a shorter sleeve.

Organic: There are now 100% organic styles.

Application

Work: Work Polo Shirts are made to last, they have a high fabric weight which is more durable and less likely to get ruined when being worn.

Sports: Sports Polo Shirts have special material which will help with the air flow as it is being worn. These types of polos usually have a contrast style.

Leisure: Leisure Polo Shirts are usually the cheaper style with a lower fabric weight.

School: There are a wide range of styles which are made in children sizes that are suitable for school.

Personalisation

Embroidered Polo Shirts are one of the best garments to have personalised as your logo can be put in any position using any method. The most common type of personalisation is embroidery which uses colour thread which is sewn onto the garment using special embroidery equipment. Heat Pressing uses a special material which is heat pressed onto the garment; this is most common if it requires big numbers or letters on the back of the garment. The last and least common is printing using a wide range of colours with a detailed image which is sprayed onto the Polo Shirt and gives a high quality finish.

History

A polo shirt as now commonly known was in fact called a tennis shirt and it is also known as a golf shirt. A polo shirt is a T-shaped shirt with a collar which has either two or three buttons but in some cases it may have a zipper instead.
The Polo shirt was invented in 1926 by a former seven time grand slam winner, Rene Lacoste. Read more at Wikepedia.
