T-Shirts

An Introduction to T-Shirts

T-Shirts where originally developed from the popular underwear garment, from the early 19th century. It is said, that during World War 1 American soldiers noticed that the European army's used a cotton based undergarment, this was found to be much more comfortable then the woollen ones used at the time. This formed the basis of the T-Shirt.

Styles & Trends

T-Shirts come in many different style and colours, these include: Long Sleeve, Short Sleeve, Contrast, Sleeveless, ¾ Sleeve and Organic.
All these styles can come in a host of colours and neck trends. V-neck, Crew neck are the most popular and often the colour choice is staggering.

Short Sleeve:: A simple Tee with short sleeves that come just above the elbow.

Long Sleeve: A simple Tee with long sleeve down to the wrist.

Contrast Styles: Typically a long sleeve Tee, with the body one colour and both sleeves a different colour, also known as a Baseball Tee.

Sleeveless: A T-shirt with no sleeves and an open neck style, very popular in the summer, and for fitness activities.

¾ Sleeve: Much the same as long/short sleeve. The sleeves come to just above the wrist.

Organic: Made from 100% organic materials.

Style can also be determined by the weight, Value, Heavy and mid weight are all popular. Heavy weight tends to be more suitable for the workplace as they are very hardwearing.

Use & Application

Typically you'll see T-shirt used in a leisure capacity, as they are very comfortable to wear.

Leisure T-shirts are not limited to leisure activities, they have found a place in many a company as corporate clothing.

Work: In the workplace Heavyweight T-shirts from the basis of a professional looking image for your company. They are also very hard wearing and easy to maintain.

School: Schools adopted the value weight Tee as part of their P.E kit, mostly down to cost and easy maintenance.


Personalisation

T-shirts can be customised in a variety of ways. Embroidered lettering, Logos, Heat Pressing and Printing can be applied to a T-shirts.

Heat Pressing: Heat Pressing uses a special material which is heat pressed onto the garment; this is most common if it requires big numbers or letters on the back of the garment.

Printing: Using a wide range of colour, a detailed image can be sprayed onto a T-shirt to give a high quality look.
